In 2013, WELD launched its theme of Making Your Voice Heard. We will spend the rest of 2013 focusing on leadership competencies that help women tap into their power and make their impact. In August, we move our journey to the subject of being one of the few. It will address issues that women and minorities face in environments where they may be the only one—how to build productive relationships, deal with challenges and be successful.
Join WELD for its August monthly program as four of our community’s most effective leaders share their stories about being in either a non-traditional role or the only woman in the room. Our panelists will address:
- What were the defining decision points in their careers and how did they break the mold?
- How did they choose a mentor or role model?
- What are the challenges related to career advancement and how can one overcome biases?
Featured panelists include:
- Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Ohio National Guard Adjutant General
- Columbus Chief of Police Kim Jacobs, 2012 Woman You Should KnowTM
- Teri Slick, Healthcare Vice President, Messer, 2013 Woman You Should KnowTM
- David Tiggett, Vice President, Investment Banker, Fifth Third Securities
